Frida is a wearable device exploring calm and peripheral interactions between humans and technology. Developed within the FUSION Creative Europe programme, the project investigates alternative notification systems, questioning the loud and disruptive nature of digital alerts.
Inspired by the principles of calm technology, as theorised by the anthropologist Amber Case, Frida communicates through subtle movements, light variations and organic shape changes rather than sounds or banners. Designed as a soft wearable for the upper arm and shoulder, the device encourages a slower and more human-centred relationship with connected technologies.
I don't want to see technology making decisions for us, because that means the people who write the software are making decisions for us. amber case
