U.F.O. — Urban Flying Opera was the world's first crowdsourced graffiti: a 14×12-metre painting designed by thousands of people and executed by a swarm of four drones over the city of Torino, Italy.
Each drone carried a tank of sustainable spray paint, flying simultaneously across two consecutive days to sketch individual designs onto the canvas. The experiment — staged in Torino's Aurelio Peccei park — was the first time a drone swarm was employed to create public urban art. A new form of collective expression, written across the city's vertical surface.
The city is an open canvas, where people can inscribe their stories in many ways. carlo ratti
